A final invitation to attend. We're going to be a little group (6 or 7) and the invitation is extended to anyone who wants to drop by this weekend.
We're going to be camping right at Blue Chute on the Main Channel. A couple of hours on the water from Wolsley Bay Marina or Pine Cove Lodge.

For those of who suffer from terminal navigation ineptitude, where _is_ French River?
I checked the Ontario Routes, but couldn't see anything. I haven't been following along in the Fall Gathering area as I figured I wouldn't be able to make it anyway, but there's a chance I may be free this weekend, so....

The French crosses Hwy 69 ...
One hour south of Sudbury
3 hours north of Toronto
I think we're all planning on putting in at Pine Cove Lodge at various times on Friday. Directions can be found here
Hope you can make it, although it's a bit of a drive from Ottawa.

OK. I found it.
You are right, Richard. It _is_ a long drive from sunny downtown Ottawa!
Oh well, maybe another time....

Nope ... had a peek through them and none of them are Little Pine or Big Pine Rapids.
Here's my best guess as to what you're going to find:
Little Pine will be basically dry. You'll carry over on the rock to the right side. More of a liftover than a portage.
Big Pine will probably be too shallow to run, or if you run it, it'll be a major bump and grind. You'll likely have to portage it on the right side. An easy 100 m.
I think there's a little swift between Big Pine and Blue Chute (Double Rapids?) Not really a rapid, just a section of fast water.
You can pull out upstream of Blue Chute, so you don't even have to run it to get to the site.
Basically, it's a flatwater trip with a few rapids interspersed along the length.
