it's pretty close to how my hair looks without the ponytail holder - except for the flowers of course - i figure it suits my ******* persona (which is pretty much how I always am) - should see me after a hiking trip - twigs, leaves, pineneedles all caught in the curls - lol

I'm looking forward to doing it again in Algonquin this year - I've even attempted to recruit another person! We just haven't decided what form of transportation we're going to take.

I'll make sure to bring my camera and take some better pictures.

Hey, Rock, how are ya?! If you're planning on Algonquin again, are you going to form a group of your own (yes, 2 is a group - we even have a group of one), or do you plan on joining with The Wolf Den Bunkhouse group? If you want to form your own, pick out a name and where in APP you'll be cleaning up. Thanks much. If you want to join The Wolf Den, contact Ben or Robin at wden@wolfdenbunkhouse.com or 1-866-271-9336.

What do you mean "better pictures"? The ones you took last year were fantastic!!

Let's hope the weather's a little nice this year.

Kevin and I finally have a name for our group...

Kawartha Clean-up Brigade.!

Anybody forming a group who hasn't given me a name yet, pleeeaaase do so as soon as you can and let me know. Remember, your group must be registered with a name in order to be an official participant. Thanks a bunch. :P

As I am a letter carrier with Canada Post, I have been working to gain its support for this cause. I'm happy to report that Canada Post will be promoting, internally, The Great North American Wilderness Clean-up. I have written up a poster that will be distributed to all postal offices across Canada in hopes of recruiting employee volunteer groups.

If there are any fellow "Posties" out there in Canada who would like to form a group for your area (or if you know a Postie), please contact me at wildernesscleanup@rogers.com.

Thanks. :P

This shouldn't be a one time thing with a date. Its a way of life..

I think everyone (probably many of you do this already) should collect garbage whenever they're out in the "bush".

I routinely bring home as much garbage as I find or can carry when out. Whether its a day hike or a two week trip...

Its really too bad that there are people out there who are so sloppy/careless/indifferent that its even a necessity.

Hi Rapt,

You are SO right!! And that is our goal in this cause...to spread the word and help bring awareness to the public, so that - hopefully - one day this WILL become a way of life. Just like wearing your seatbelt, or not smoking in public places, or not drinking and driving...

I personally know that there are many, many of us who do care and pick up each time we're out there. My hope is that one day it won't be necessary. Maybe not in my lifetime, but maybe, just maybe, one day...

If I can achieve that, even in a small way, then my time here on Mother Earth has not been wasted.

Thanks, Rapt, for what you do.

Hi everybody.

Is there anyone out there who would like to form a group where individuals may join? I'm getting some interested people who would like to join up with others.

If anyone is interested in starting one up, please either post a message here or e-mail me at wildernesscleanup@rogers.com. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Kevin and I have confirmed that we will be cleaning up the Shark Lake area, just south of Long Lake near Apsley, Ontario. Those participants who are joining with us in our efforts will be asked to meet us at the Coon Lake government dock NO LATER THAN 8:00 AM SATURDAY MORNING. To get there, take Hwy 28 and turn onto Coon Lake Road, which is 1.6 kms north of Burleigh Falls. Once on Coon Lake Road, take the first left and park somewhere along the area of the road that looks like a court in a suburban area. From there, we will make our way north to Shark Lake, cleaning up along our way. We'll camp out on Shark Lake on Saturday night, and make our way back Sunday morning.

The BBQ being held at Sir Sandford Fleming College of Environmental Sciences in Lindsay, Ontario, will commence at around 3:00 PM on Sunday. Kevin and I will, however, be arriving a little earlier to prepare. I don't have driving directions to the college yet, but I will post them when I do. The Auk Lodge there will be opened for the celebration, and a big screen will be set up to view the results coming in. We look forward to meeting everyone there who is within range of getting there.

We continue to have more and more groups joining with us!! I have a group who would like to cover Rock Lake in APP, and another to cover the Dickson/Bonfield Portage area (please contact Flyrod by PM for more info on that). Also, there is a group, the Rocket River Cleaners from McMaster University, who will be covering the Long Lake to Vixen area.

***Everyone, please make sure you have proper safety equipment with you. I also suggest wearing good boots and work gloves while cleaning up.***
