I received this request from my dear friend Christine. Christine and Tim are working on a new cookbook. In speaking with Christine today she said that she would donate part of the royalty to Scouts Canada as well.
I shared several of my recipes with Christine and they appeared in Lipsmackin' Vegetarian Backpackin' - it was a rewarding experience and fun to see my recipes in print.
I hope you don't mind me posting this on her behalf.
My name is Christine Conners. My husband, Tim, and I are the authors of Lipsmackin' Backpackin' and Lipsmackin' Vegetarian Backpackin', both of which are best-selling cookbooks in the backpacking genre. Tim and I were recently given the honor of judging Scouting Magazine's camp food favorites contest.
We are contacting you because we recently signed a contract with Globe Pequot Press to write a scout cookbook. Our goal is to create a comprehensive collection of recipes, cooking techniques, tips and ideas from Scouts and leaders from all over the world. Instead of filing away in a dark corner the hundreds of recipes submitted to this year's contest by folks such as you, Scouting Magazine graciously provided copies to us so that we might consider them for inclusion in our book.
We are requesting your permission to test and possibly publish your recipe. Once published, your name would be listed in the book as a contributor. Not only would you have the satisfaction of seeing your recipe in print, you would be assured that you are introducing others to the unique and delicious world of scout cooking. Although we would not be able to financially compensate you for your recipe, a percentage of royalties generated by the book will be donated on behalf of all of the contributors to the Boy Scouts of America for as long as the cookbook remains in print.
