Does anyone have any info or has done this loop....I found it on a map it's outside of Algonquin Park I am intrigued by the cheesy names and want to do the trip...I have only come across one article that said it was difficult to find the portages and they could find one of the lakes. Anyways if anyone has any info please pass it on.

Perhaps the article that you've already found -- but if not ... Grant's Creek

This area, outside of the Park boundary, was identified as a route on my 1981 Park Map. One can clearly see a portage sign of Hwy 17 near Grant or Bisset Creek. I believe that it was identified as lost canoe route in Callan's Lost Canoe Routes book. I think that the area is likely under pressure from logging.

Kevin Callan also has a good description of Grant's Creek routes in his book Gone Canoeing: Weekend Wilderness Adventures in Southern Ontario. There are some good tips on what access points to use etc. (The part about playing "pooh sticks" was quite amusing! )

Was thinking about taking a trip there someday for the same reason - the names are funny! Hope that you can make it there!

You have to drop your stick with a twitchy action, that's the secret.

This reminds me of a cute little chain of lakes in New Brunswick just outside of St John. Robin Hood, Little John...although if a remember correctly, there was no Friar Tuck

We ( 4 paddling friends) did the route starting at Grant's Creek long weekend of May 2005. Never made it to Pooh Lake. The portages were very rough and some dangerously steep! Had to clear lots of fallen trees.Camped one night on Creek and second on the Marsh on an island. We are fairly experienced trippers and it was a tough one! This route is on our "never do again" list.
