I'm thinking of doing a ten day trip on Lake Nipigon next summer. Any informatiom on spots to put in, visit, camp etc would be most welcome.

There are lots of ways to get into Lake Nipigon...Beardmore is the most common entry point at Poplar Point Park...However, there are lots of river systems that run into Lake Nipigon that make for interesting trips as well. The Namemawinikan is a nice trip, and you can end at the park in Beardmore.
Ombabika Bay at the North end is beautiful too...there is a road system that runs up here, but it's pretty confused and ever changing...There are lots of chartered fishing boats from Beardmore who could be rented to take you up to the north end...Lake Nipigon is a big lake, about 90K by 70K and to be truthful, it scares the crap out of me...anything that can happen on Lake Superior can also happen on Nipigon...huge waves from nowhere, all that whacky weather stuff...however, it is still quite pristine, and if you have the experience of big water tripping, i'm sure it would be an unforgettable experience.

Thanks for the info.
We have had a lot of experience on big water including twelve summers on Lake Superior. (10 day trips) and have heard Nipigon can be worse so we have some idea of what we might encounter. But thanks for the warning anyway.
