The following documents are in no particular order. They are simply a variety of old documents related to canoeing which I have managed to get my hands on, and have transcribed for this site.

They are a fascinating look at what wilderness canoeing used to be like. It is also interesting to note that many of the river and lake names have changed since these descriptions were written.

  • The Mississauga Canoe Trip (1925)

  • Canoe Routes to Hudson Bay  (ca 1920)

  • Canoe Trips in Ontario  (1930)

  • Ontario - Fort Frances to Sioux Lookout  (undated)

  • Lake Winnipeg to Hudson Bay  (undated)

We are attempting to copy, catalogue and wherever possible transcribe and post in this site as many historical documents as possible.

Our biggest challenge seems to be in locating much of this information.  Many of the old maps, documents and route descriptions seem to have disappeared, and are not even available from the Federal or Provincial Archives.

If you are fortunate enough to have any of these documents in your possession, and would be willing to share that content with others, we would appreciate hearing from you.

All documents will be carefully copies and returned  to you undamaged.  Please contact us by email to make arrangements if you have any trip logs, diaries, route descriptions, maps or other items of historical significance
