There is something disquieting about being "well known" as a member of the canoeing (or any) community.  Probably, many of the people listed here would probably be uncomfortable with the recognition afforded them.

Nonetheless, they are all people who have in one way or another left their mark on the wilderness canoeing community and deserve some recognition for the work they have done.
