A
good part of the motivation for heading into our wilderness
areas is to have an opportunity to be closer to the natural
world. For many of us, part of that closeness is the
rare opportunity to be in close proximity to wildlife.

For
the most part, this is a highlight of the wilderness canoeing
experience. Still, there are times that caution is
warranted - these are, after all, wild animals, and we are
encroaching on areas which are their homes. We are
responsible for ensuring our behaviour does not adversely affect
these creatures.
The links to the right will take you to pages about many of the
animals we can expect to encounter as we paddling in Canadian
wilderness areas.
