Technique | The Trip | The Trip Journal | Matthew's Story

An entry to our family trip journal written by my son Matthew, (8 years old at the time) about a turtle we found that had fallen into a deep, narrow fissure in the rock and gotten himself trapped. We managed to fish the poor creature up to the top of the crack using sticks and set it free.  Who knows how long it had been stuck down there!

Matthew's journal entry ... the luckiest turtle in Georgian Bay

"I was coming back from cutting wood when I noticed a great big painted turtle.  he had fallen down a big crack.  At first I thought he was dead but then I saw him move.

Then  I called my dad.  He came and me and my dad got sticks.  My dad grabbed its sides with sticks and when he was high enough I pushed him against the wall.

Then my dad grabbed him then we took a picture then put him in the lake.  That was a lucky and a happy turtle."
