Saw Blade Storage

Those of us that enjoy a campfire at night almost always bring along a folding saw or bucksaw, which is much more useful than an axe. However, blades tend to snap at the most inconvenient time, and it isn't easy to bring along a spare blade. These blades are sharp, long and floppy - not a good item to try to get into a pack.

Here's a good place to put it and forget about it. It'll be out of the way until you need it. Give the blade a light coat of oil to prevent rusting, lay it on the sticky side of a long piece of duct tape, and stick it to the inside of your canoe just under the gunwale. Next time you snap a blade, peel off the duct tape and voila ... instant spare!
