General Comments | ||
| Beausoleil Island is part of Georgian Bay Islands National Park. Self-registration is required on arrival at the island. This is a loop from Honey Harbour out to Beausoleil and back. There are many campsites around the perimeter of the island. The visitor`s centre in Honey Harbour has maps showing the location of these sites. Many of the sites are quite "civilized" with steel fire boxes, picnic tables and even some tent platforms. The island can be quite busy, especially during the peak summer months of July and August. Powerboat traffic during these times can be heavy. | ||

Beausoleil bay VERY busy on weekends, and leaving Honey Harbour is a nightmare in a canoe! Best to avoid weekends for this trip...
The campsites on the Island are VERY close together. More like a campground with each area having 5-10 sites some just feet apart. Not very private if that is what you are expecting.
There is a YMCA camp that runs from late June to late August that I believe may have the right to the site by Goblin Bay and they occasionally use it on Sunday or Friday nights.
Sights are well developed. Chimney had steel fire boxes, picnic tables, tent platforms and a small cabin. Felt like luxury camping. Was not very busy in late April but can see it being very busy later in the year. Good hiking trails. You need to purchase wood.
We were here in early April 2007. I would not want to be there in the peak of summer as it would feel just like car camping. The sites have nice tent pads, but no fire pits. Fires were made in a small stand up grill near the picnic table. Getting there was challenge as the local boaters DO NOT slow down (one of our canoes got swamped in shallow water).
