Orley Lake - Just off the northern most part of Sherborne Lk, well worth the extra 257m portage! This is a very small, secluded lake. Clean, deap and cold! The 2 camp sites are both in reasonable condition. If you are looking to get away to some piece and quiet, and a good swimming hole, this is it! | ||

I have paddled this area most of my life. As the years have passed it has become more of a party place then a canoeing area. I know that Haliburton water trail is asking users to fill out a questionaire about the area - I recommend filling it out. Things are going to change in the near future (probably a pay system with registered sites). This may be a good thing. I was there recently and it was a beer drinking gun fest - I actually felt somewhat unsafe on Sherbourne Lake. I believe everyone is entitled to use this area but safety and user guideline enforement might make it a more pleasing place to be and perhaps a place for my children to paddle in in the future. If you are in this area and wanting a more remote type of Paddle - start in Wren Lake and head south. The North side of the highway needs time to heal. | ||

thsi is not a comment but a request.. Is there a map showing the camp sites avaable on Sherborne Lake. We are interseted in one but have no idea how to tell what # it is. We have called but have not been getting a reply or anone answering the phone. hought I would try here. Sharon | ||

Just to add to Brians comments, as of june 2006 they have posted fees for camping in this area. I have been camping and paddling in this area for a number of years and the weekend partys have been getting out of hand in the last few years. The fees are not that high and if you want to enjoy this area, it is still worth paying the fee. | ||

I have been going to this lake for about 5 years now and it is one of the most beautifull places ive ever been, hey if anyone sees this dont go swimming in silver doe, we did and I spent about 45mins picking leeches off my wife lol. Amazing trout fishing though. And btw dont let your friends bring fireworks without you knowing, my friend set some off as a prank on us at 10pm at night and 6pm the next day the supervisor mark booted us out. Even though it wasnt on our site he lit them off to scare us and he volenteered to leave. But Mark was ina grouchy mood and it woulda cost us $400 or it did cost us the last 2 days of our trip. BUT ANYWAYS IT IS DEFINITLY WORTH GOING THERE. | ||

I believe this area has become a ridiculous place for partying as well. As a young child of about 3 years old, my family and several other famalies travelled into Sherbourne lake on yearly basis for a number of years. Now I am 21, and havent been back for about 5 years because of the amount of people who abuse the tranquility of the lake. When we used to go up, we used to go for a week and a half sometimes, and be the only people on the lake. I find it ridiculous that it is so overpopulated now, and there is designated amount of tents and campers per site. We used to build things off the large site about a kilometre from the damn, and every year we would come back to it either being stolen or destroyed. I miss the good old days. :( | ||
