Route Description
Access to Put-In Information:

Highway 28 east of Bancroft. Turn onto old road immediately west of York river. Drive to road's end at first portage. If that section is too rough, park in open area when the river becomes visible.

Technical Guide:

The first three chutes before the Great Bend can be dangerous in high water, as it may not be possible to locate and exit canoes at the portages.

Trip Journal/Log/Report/Diary:

Campsites may be had at the first three chutes, on exposed sandbars, on a high sandbank where the Great Bend ends... two or three campsites several hours' paddle further down, severalhours below that, at Boffin's Point several km upstream on the Little Mississippi, then at the York River's Half Moon Bay on a rocky point, and possibly at McPhee's Bay at the takeout point. Takeout is also possible at the public boat launch at Combermere.

Special Comments:

First three chutes below Highway 28 may be dangerous in high water, portages may be difficult to locate and access. Much safer in low water.
