Welcome to Canadian Canoe Routes

Canadian Canoe Routes is an online meeting place for those who enjoy exploring the lakes and rivers of Canada by canoe.

Inside, you'll find hundreds of route descriptions, gear information and reviews, tips, tricks and techniques and active discussion forums.

The most important thing you'll find is people - a community of paddlers who share a common bond - their love of Canada's wilderness areas and their passion for exploring it by canoe.

'Hooligan' has been posting a trip report in instalments of a trip he did some years ago on the Kanairiktok River. It is an exremely enjoyable read, with an extensive & humorous disclaimer. In 'Hooligan's' words, this is a trip report, albeit an old one, of a journey on the Kanairiktok River in Labrador. In Inuktitut, the river’s name means “the place with straight trees good for tent poles”. It was an unknown river of raging whitewater, narrow gorges and falls, set in an isolated, barren landscape. To say I was nervous about this river trip would be an understatement; I was scared shitless! To enjoy this great trip report join us here on the forum.

SONG & SLIDE SHOW
A song & video written & produced
by 'bcull' from our CCR forums is extremely enjoyable to watch. He wrote the song after a 2007 trip on the Nahanni River, or the "Dangerous River" as referred to by R.M. Patterson.

Quote of the Moment
Without love of the land, conservation lacks meaning or purpose, for only in a deep and inherent feeling for the land can their be dedication in preserving it.
