Surprised this has not been posted yet. Am thinking of heading in Algonquin (hwy 60 corridor) sometime 26th weekend. Just wondering how the bugs are shaping up so far if anyone has been out and about?

Was out in algonquin park off Hwy 60, from smoke through little bonnechere to cache lake, and I didn't see any black flies out yet. There were a few misuitoes out for a couple hours after dusk in the evening though. I'm sure that they'll be pit in full force soon enough though.

Just got back from Grand Lake (Achray drop off) and have to say bugs were non existant for the 3 days I was there. Weather was descent each day, in the high teens to twenties with sun all days. Was talking to warden on my way out who told me ice out was late on the lake this year - they still had ice last week, so sure bugs will be out very soon...

Probably already are. The blackflys have been out in droves along Hwy 7 the last two weeks, although not biting yet.

Just returned today (Thursday 17th) from Algonquin: Big Porcupine, Ragged Lake, etc. south of Highway 60. No biting bugs. Saw some black flies, but they were not biting. Swatted a single mosquito. That said, today was very warm...
