Untamed, wild and remote, Northern Ontario's Nagagami River snakes its way through the vast boreal forest. One could paddle her waters for over a month, north to the Albany River and eventually the Arctic Ocean's James Bay. In May of 2018, Leah and I set out to paddle over 110km of her waters, swollen, boiling and angry from the spring melt. It was a trying experience, but we sought a challenge and an unforgettable adventure. The Nagagami did not disappoint!

Great video! I like the longer format; I think this is the longest I've seen of yours. I wasn't expecting the dunk!

And the fuel bottle issue is something I've always been concerned about.

Thanks!! Yeah it's certainly the longest one I've done by far. Slowly working away on a few other lengthy videos; Superior Coast, Rio Grande. Winter is a great time time to edit!

I'm never storing fuel bottles in the food barrel again. I had done it for weight shuffling. I'll find something else to shuffle next time, though, it could have been equally disastrous if it happened in the gear bag.

Dirty Bush and Jackpine were brutal. Didn't get as much footage on Jackpine but there was a blowdown every 10m or so. Parks were supposed to go in late last summer to do some maintenance, but the were stymied by low water levels so they postponed it until this summer. They were eager to get on that river after seeing this video!

Really enjoyed the video. Truly exploring as I can't imagine those portages get used very often. And the trade off with the cold was I guess no bugs and good water levels. It's not going on my list of rivers to do but I'm thankful to witness your adventure. I'm curious - what's on your list of rivers for 2019?

I've always got a tentative list of trips in my back pocket. There's about 10 roughly planned out. It's just a matter of seeing what will fit with our timelines. I've been eyeing a loop down the Kopka via Ottertooth Creek, Algoma's Montreal River, Little Pic, Ivanhoe, Sutton.... kind of a broad list We'll see what the summer brings!



That's a DJI Spark. Pretty small and lightweight so it's great for packing on trip. Batteries get you about 18mins of flightime. It's pretty quiet too. 50m up and you can't really hear it at all. Easy to lose track of it!

I remembered that I got a pouch for Christmas to deal with this exact issue.

There are a couple images below. The MEC one (the one I have - it's the lower picture) is big enough to store my pot set (and stove), as well as a couple 1-L MSR fuel bottles. I just attached it to my barrel harness and checked it for sizing.

I think it's going to be great. It has tons of webbing loops on the back, so should be able to attach to any barrel harness.

The other one is a Recreational Barrel Works product and can be purchased from Canadian Outdoor Equipment.

Wow Brad, that's a great idea! I'm going to have to pick up one, or two to balance it out a little
