Hey fellow canoe adventurers, I've just finished editing a video highlighting our early spring,4-day, 110 km. French River canoe trip. Starting in Wolseley Bay we paddled out the French River into Lake Nipissing, then headed west along the lake's south shore. We then did some bushwhacking and eventually ended up on the Wolseley River turning this epic trip into a nice 'loop' trip. please check out the Youtube video link below:

Love the shot at 5:15; the only thing missing is a few cumulus clouds. I also like the Wolseley section and the Warren Bay title shot. Also, nice b-roll. The wet branches and foggy waterscapes make great filler for the quiet parts. You're dedicated to be filming in the rain. I dont see that very often in videos.

I quite enjoyed this latest installment of the "Brad 'n Dad" video series! :D

I don't know how you do those shots of the both of you paddling merrily along, but it must take some effort to do.

Did you see much motor boat traffic along that loop? There seems to be quite a number of cottages and lodges there.

I'm surprised that you could paddle upstream on the Little French. I am thinking of doing a loop around Okik.(with a couple of side trips) I. but I had assumed we would need to do it in the CCW direction.
I'm also surprised that you couldn't find the outlet from Warren Bay, but I guess the reality 'on the ground' or, more accurately, 'in the boat' is quite different from what it looks like on the topo.

There wasn't much int he way of boat traffic. Likely owed to being early spring. we saw just a few motorboats on the French and near Sucker Creek Landing.

Warren Bay wasn't tricky IIRC, it was the portage (or lack of it) from Shanty Bay that was tricky. Some bushwhacking will be required, but it's not too hard. We we're trying to find the old trail but most of it has long since disappeared. it's best to follow the road from the westernmost bay southeast until it curves more due east and bushwhack south tot he lake. Not a long haul and the bush is pretty open.
