We´ve tackled the Haultain at the end of August till early Sep. 2014 for a two weeks trip.
To save time we´ve flown in to Mawdsley Lake out of Buffalo Narrows where we´ve parked our car again. Our canoe was still there anyways from our Clearwater River trip back in 2012. At the end of our trip we´ve got pícked up at the spit of the long Peninsula in Bentley Bay/Knee Lake so we were able to make most out of our vacation!
When we´ve landed at Mawdsley Lake waterlevels seemed reasonable and we´ve had a good run downriver. Also shot through the two boulder runs in the upper reaches without getting stuck somewhere. A couple of portages where the old burn was were thick with new growth jackpine and I´ve had to cut out the trail here and there. Wildlife was a couple moose, a lynx and a nice size wolf. The highlight´s of the Haultain are the many pretty falls and the clear water tho! The first week was hot and nice but towards the end of the trip it was cold and wet. The morning for pickup was 0°C.
Waterlevels at the Churchill were quite high for that time of the year.
Again Laurel Archer´s book was a great guide again!
cheer´s
Chris

Great wildlife sightings: lynx and wolf.

The cold and wet is not evident by your photos, it looks so nice and sunny.

It's easy to see why you liked the trip and waterfalls.

Nice report, Rappi. Another one for the "someday" list.
