David, your photos of that trip are intriguing. Was that a Klepper kayak paddle sticking up out of the pack? When were those photos taken?

yes it was a klepper. I think it was in the early 80s. No grey hair and a strong back. My background is kayaking and I wanted a doubled ended offset paddle but longer than my kayak paddle. In fact my first long tripw was in a 9 foot kayak - about 300 miles. Amos Quebec to Moosonee Ont. That had to be in mid or late 70s. The pain in my lower back was excruciating. Acutally my first river trip was the Allagash river in a 4 foot rubber raft with little plastic paddles. I used a highway map and a pin on lapel compass. My tent was a piece of plastic, my sleeping bag was a cotton blanket and my rain coat was a plastic trash bag. for food i live on candy and cigarettes.

I would like to thank Robert Dion for correcting me and I would like to share that correction. My Google Earth map has me doing a route via Bell Creek and Mr Dion questioned me on it and I went into a search for my original maps. I was wrong and I was lazy. Now I will correct my error
