I'm hoping to get in a week or so of canoeing this fall, early October somewhere in NS or maybe NB. Could be lakes or rivers, or a mix. Any suggestions for a route (I know there are many published routes, but I am from MB, so unfamiliar with them, and looking for a good one for late season/low water)?

Thanks in advance.

St Croix on the Maine NB border holds water well.

You could contact the Fundy Paddlers Club in St. John. They are awfully active. I can't find the route they just posted on Facebook..a loop no less! The Miriamichi River doesn't seem to hold much depth in the fall.. its scrapey.

Overlooked is Panuke lake near windsor Nova Scotia. It is the longest lake in Ns at 30km long and beautiful and serene especially at night when the boaters leave and the trout/ bass fishing is great. The first 2 hours is cottage and boater heavy however at about the midway point or 4 of the 8 hours paddle required to reach the end you will start to experience the wilderness element and you would never tell you weren't on Algonquin park or some other remote location. You will have to keep your eyes peeled for a sufficient place to camp but we have always found a spot. Here are some photos
