Does anyone have contacts in Circle Alaska?
We need to find someone with a pickup truck who we could hire to take us to Birch Creek next Summer. We are planning on paddling From Bennet Lake to Circle. Get a ride to Birch Creek, then paddle back to the Yukon, and take out at the haul road.

Thanks for any help.

We just got back from a 42 day trip down the Kuskokwim River, Rohn Road House to Bethel. Very enjoyable trip, even though it rained 35 of the 40 days. It was great to have Bison jumping in the river infront of us on the upper stretch of the River.

We just got back from Alaska. The Yukon River section Bennett Lake to Dalton Highway was great. It only rained two or 3 days during the 7 week trip which was nice lots of nice sand bars to camp on, but caused major problems on Birch Creek for us.

Birch Creek was horrible due to very low water in Alaska this year. We had to drag, push and pull our boat for eight days (110 miles) to the first and only road crossing.( we had planned to paddle another 300 miles on Birch Creek back to the Yukon River). Then we found a ride back to Circle and back on the Yukon River. None of the rapids on Birch Creek had enough water to float a canoe, and every twist and bend of the river has very shallow rapids in low water. The rocks are shale which is very sharp, so we had to patch our Pak-boat every night, easy to do, but a real pain.

Hopefully next years trip: Twin lakes (Lake Clark National Park) Chilikadrotna , Mulchatna, and Nushagak Rivers, taking out at Dillingham will be better.
