You are correct.

Maybe it will work, probably means the seat is a bit higher off the hull than it would be in a kayak.

I picked up the canoe today, yes, the kayak seat is about 5.5" tall so it works great. I can paddle with the double blade no problem without touching the gunwales. It feels good
