View topic - Atikaki provincial Park - trip report

I don't know if you are around but reading your trip report I was wondering if you went down the Gammon and Blood and then up the Sasaginnigak into Sasaginnigak lake or if you went the other way around. It appears the first way (clockwise) would be the easiest assuming it is not to hard going up the Sasaginnigak to the lake and then back south east to Scout Lake etc.

Anybody else paddled that circle and have any comments?

It has been many years since I was in that area, but I have paddled Wallace - Aikens - Gammon - Bloodvein - Sassaginnigak twice, once going on to Berens River and once looping back to Wallace.

I would say going up the Sassaginnigak is not a problem - a few portages, that's all.

I paddled up the Sass.,and back down again,and it was easy both ways.The portages are(were) well marked and not difficult.As I recall,there are about 4 portages,and one of them has (or had)a really nice camp spot,past the top of the rapids at the put in.The prettiest is the rapids to the entrance to the lake.I used the south entry,and don't know what the other is like.The folks at the lodge are really nice.Up the Bloodvein,and the Gammon are fairly easy,except for a couple of swifts that may give you a workout paddling up.
