View topic - Overland route to South Nahanni

I am interested in information about the overland route to South Nahanni from the Canol Road.
In 2012 we plan to paddle Nahanni, and do it the hard way.
Has anyone som info to give me, I would be very glad.

Charlie rented gear to a group who did an overland trek into the Mountain River, portaging their boats.

Iva Kinclova and Hugh Westheuser (and many others before and after them, I expect) came up the Ross:

I don`t know though how close they came to the Canol Road.

At the 2007 WCS Symposium, there was a presentation on a trip across the divide to the Nahanni.

I have sent you a PM (personal message) with contact information for the person who did that presentation.

Hi, we did the trip last August, starting at the second Bridge of the South Mac and going then up the Witham Creek. Was a great trip, took us three weeks from start to the end at Lindbergh landing. Lots of fun, you can get some pictures at http://www.canadier-muenchen.de/bilder/ ... bilder.htm

Ken Madsen and Peter Mather, in "A Guide to Paddling in the Yukon", describe a trip down the South MacMillan, up a stream to the Itsi Mountains area, down to the Ross and then up it.
They say that the Ross Route is "much longer, but physically easier" than the Route described in their book.

EDIT:
The South MacMillan Route starts from the North Canol Road and so is likely the one for which the original poster asked information.
