If you are going to use Picassa (I use it for some things), check out the Geotag feature. It's one of the easier ways to Geotag images using your GPS track info.

I know the OP has found a good solution, but for others with the same question...

I was a long time user of irfanview - I still use it from time to time, but a friend turned me on to Photoscape which has a lot more functionality and offers everything irfanview does, plus more.

I love it... of course that doesn't mean you will.

thx CP. I had a quick look at Photoscape. Generally looks quite good but i didn't see how to straighten a pic i.e rotate by a few deg.
