View topic - Cell phone coverage Geo Bay

Does anybody know the extent of coverage around the French R delta area? I know there's coverage around Dokis I---some friends were camping there last year, had an accident and managed to call a marina to help them get back out.

You have coverage in the Philip Edward Island area...

Several years ago I was able to get a signal around the main channel mouth... no guarantee that it is still the same situation.

I had maximum signal strength on Franklin Island last weekend using Bell Mobilty.

Dokis is in the Upper French River where Lake Nippising dumps into the river.
You speak of the delta ...where the river dumps into Georgian bay or near lake Nipping ?
Either side of the river has a provincial park .

Near lake Nipissing where the river starts there is :
West Sandy Island Provincial Park .

At the other end (Georgian Bay side) there is the French River Provincial Park .

I woul call either park's info centre and they should be able to tell you how good the cell coverage is and where the closest tower is .

Knowing where the cell towers are nowadays could come in handy ...years ago analog phones were much better at reaching far away towers .
Todays digital service is crippled , tower location and distance could make the difference between a call and a dead phone.

Having just come thru this area I can now provide the following info:

PEI---OK, checked at 3 locations
FR around Green I, no recept
FR Bad River channel, OK
FR, the Foxes, OK.
