I'd like a different location too, though I'd prefer to use the Budd Car again.

Repair to rearend is working great. Not that you need to know, so I'm on for this year. I love the Budd car it gives me the feeling of going into real wilderness that the auto just can not match. I'm increasing the distance of my daily walk. Real training maybe sleeping in the freezer. ( Englishman that tried to walk to the North Pole did it of several months.) :D
Any date, anywhere OK with me.
Stay safe

Anytime is good for us. I would also like to go to a different location, maybe a little further up the tracks, however, the area we have been in for the last 2 years is OK too.
The Budd train is the only way to go. :P

Think of the poles that have been cut already......We'd be saving a lot of time not having to do this all over again of if need be.

Loved the Budd Car..hope we use her again.I think I will send some of my gear down on the bus this year..was just lucky last time that they didn't charge me for the extra weight.

Good idea Deb, I can pick up anything you send down ahead of time and could even do some grocery shopping for you if required  I have a few new places to check out for this year, but not sure when but I should be able to get it done before Christmas and yep they all use the Budd Car for access. How's the new puppy? Cheers
Sid

But, is there enough firewood left at that location? With the amount of wood being used, there must be quite a clearing at that location by now.

Sorry Georgi, just had to add that comment.

There is lots of fire wood. The location of DF-04 was about 1/2 mile further in than DF 03.
I believe there was about 7 hot tents and by the looks of it there will be even more at DF-05.
There is also the possibility of going to another area a little further up the tracks. :P
We will still be the largest village between Cartier and Chapleau,

Canu-canu, Smokey brought a chain saw, which enabled the group to cut and then split some large standing dead white pines. This kept the impact on smaller stuff rather low, considering the size of the group.

Sure we still had to cut poles, and did, but it isn't always necessary to cut the full 7 for a wall tent. Often you can bridge a gap and get away with 2 or 3, which may be found dead and standing.

That was the case where I set up last year.

I'm all for another spot, too. I've been into Houghton Lake, in winter, which is just before Bisco. It's fine although if the Lake has slush we won't be going too far. And I went into a pair of Lakes whose names escape me just west of Ramsey, which had gigantic amounts of standing firewood (drowned by a beaver-inspired rise in lake level).

Lots of options....
