2. MEC Cygnus 700 DL Jacket Men's
Weight: 900.0 grams , Med
This is a premium down jacket. Incredibly warm but remarkably light, it’s ideal for trips when you need compact gear offering lots of warmth. This jacket combines the best of materials, features, and sewing techniques to meet the demands of even the most extreme user. For example, the tightly woven microfibre polyester shell provides moderate moisture resistance and an excellent wind barrier. The addition of DryLoft® fabric panels over the shoulders, arms, and hood deliver additional wind, light rain, and snow protection when belaying in transition zones.
While most down garments use simple sewn-through construction, we use a combination of complicated construction techniques to achieve maximum warmth and minimal bulk. On the back and arms the down is sewn in baffles to separate the chambers which prevents down shifting and promotes maximum loft. The front panels have double offset sewn-through chambers that result in two layers of down with offset quilt lines. This technique virtually eliminates cold spots and allows for better placement of pockets between the layers. The shoulders use a combination of sewn-in baffles and double offset down to minimize bulk.
Outer shell is made of 30-denier microfibre polyester downproof fabric with a water-shedding durable water repellency (DWR) surface treatment.
The hood, arms, and shoulders use Gore’s™ DryLoft® fabric to provide superior water and wind resistance.
700 fill-power grey goose down is sourced and processed in Canada.
Lining fabric is made of a down-proof microfibre nylon taffeta fabric.
Cut to layer over heavyweight fleece or soft shells.
Hip length hem-line.
Made in Canada, fabrics from USA, China, and Tiawan.
I can't decide which would be the better choice...I am a big fan of MEC and their customer service, but the Taiga jacket seems like a better jacket, for a better price....
Any thoughts?
