Well I guess it is about the date DF gets started with the planning.

DF 12 Plan A
Ride the Budd to Nitro Creek
Date: Saturday February 18 to Sunday February 26, 2012

DF12 Plan B
Has anyone got a plan B ??

Are you interested in giving DF12 a go?

Dave you have the days right. There is no plan B as the Bud Car will work  at least we hope so. Nitro creek is the destination again as we know how to get out if the train fails us.
The train is still the best option to get out there the easiest. Hope most of the old crew can make it this year as well as some newcomers, all are welcome.
For any new comers the train is part of the adverture and it usually is reliable and it is a good way to travel in the winter. Last year was the first year it didn't take us in and out. It has its delays and those that come are prepared for it.
Bill

Right on Bill. Remember to bring your "This Budd" T-shirt for a group photo. Hope some new people join it. I hope the younger generation comes. We had a few drop out last year because of school commitments.
See ya at the station.

Yeah!!! Deep Freeze!!

Hopefully I can go. I had to submit my vacation already and gambled that it was the week before. So hopefully they'll (work) let me make those changes, they're pretty strict that way?

Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

Andrew

If you've got the dates and the location firmed up, how about posting it in the Events forum, with a link back to this thread?

Hi Barbara:
Good idea but that would require me knowing how to do that.

Deep Freeze in the past on CCR was very chatty with lots of posts as the trip date got nearer.

Am I missing something?

If there's any changes, let me know and I'll edit that thread.

Let the planning begin!

I will defiantly try to attend this year. Not sure what my days will be, but if things stay the same at work, it may be the first day but only for a couple of nights, unless I take a few days off. Looking forward to it.

Well in keeping with my biannual attendance, I'm going to make a concerted attempt to be there again in '12! Just have to figure out if the family will be accompanying...

Looking forward to seeing you all in a couple of months!

Dave you aren't missing anything, I think after 10 years of deepfreezes most of regulars know what to expect. Most of our gear has been tweaked for this type of trip and new gear isn't needed. Looking back to the first deep freeze till now most of our gear has evolved. From our seven foot ski type sleds to 10 ft plastic tobogans, propane lights to naphta to led lighting. From one pair of snowshoes to at least two ,one for deep soft snow and a smaller pair for shallower and harder snow. From only a few people with hot tents to almost everyone. Better axes, ice augers, clothing ,sleeping systems, food etc.
So the regulars aren't posting alot, but hopefully some new comers will want to come and some discussion will start.

Well a gear list for a newbie would be very nice.. Preferably one that can fit snowtrekker tent and stove on a seven foot toboggan.

I wouldn't worry about getting all your things on a 7' sled . We are not going in that far and can leave some things at the tracks and return for them later or the next day . Take what you think you will need for the length of time you expect to be there . scouter Joe

You can bring lots of gear and food and drink because it is a relatively shore pull from the tracks to the camp site at Nitro. I found this list in my notes from my first deep freeze. Hopefully others will fill in the missing stuff and better things to bring then what I have listed.
