Does anyone know where I can get rawhide to restring an old pair of snowshoes

I asked in an earlier post to no avail but I'll try again.

Thanks,
Derek

I didn't realize you were still looking for rawhide after receiving suggestions for numerous alternatives.

Here is one source that I have found for babiche. Here is a Canadian source.

To be honest, the stuff looks expensive, more difficult to work with and much less functional than many alternatives so I doubt I will ever work with it except for the experience. If you do use it make you sure to report back on what it is like to work with this material.

One alternative that I have seen used is "heavy duty" monofilament, as mentioned on another post

Thanks for the reply,

those sites are helpful. I think I want to try and restore the snowshoes to it's original conditions. I'll report on it once I work with it for a while.
