Hi all,

I haven't been on the boards for a long time... just catching up on all the great trip reports and vids etc. Great stuff as always.
Very much looking forward to some tripping this year as my fall trips got nixed last fall.

Here is a vid I put together that should help wet a few appetites. I took a 4 day trip with a friend into Rock Lake / Pen Lake area... April 2011.
He was days away from running a marathon and his training regime didn't allow him too much strain so we kept the portages to a minimum. We'd been to this area once before and had a great time so we decided to go back.
This was my first trip with my new Canon 5D... no I cant really afford it and yes I really really love it ! (5D / 24-106 / 16-45 )
I learned a lot about shooting vid with this cam on this trip... NEED AN ND FILTER!
Anyhoo... enjoy

Dont forget to change the playback quality setting on your YouTube window to 720 hd.

As our group canoed the Rock, Pen, Clydesgale Lake in early May 2011, I was interested in watching the video of your trip. Great shots. As I was watching, all of a sudden, it became very familiar... solo red canoe up against the Rock Lake cliffs, pictograph site area. "Hey, I was there and took the same picture." (heavily cropped and enlarged)

Sure looks like that same boat to me.

Nicely done. Great area to go to if you only have a short amount of time. Thanks for sharing.

Ha!... small world paddleforfun.

The fishing rod ended up being a bit of a bust and Scott didn't have his card so we didn't bother trying.
This spring however....

thanx for the comments everyone

Splake,

sorry... missed your question

It was Avid that I did this edit on... my work computer 8)
I have Premiere at home now and am finding it a bit clunky for some reason.
Most likely it is something I havent configured correctly yet.
I am using Mac and am considering geting Final Cut X... it will probably do most of what I need and you cant beat the price.

Thanks Canoodle. I'm starting to use Premier Elements but still ramping up.

Very nice video!

Curious Canoodle. What type of video gear did you use to take the footage?

Hi Tripper,

I used a 5d mkii with the kit 24-105 f4 and a 16-35 f2.8.
I had a decent tripod with me and my buddy brought his point and shoot.
Were heading out again in about 3 weeks. This time around I'll have the same kit but in additon I've borrowed an ND filter for the wide zoom and a small Go Pro type camera. I'm also going to bring my little Canon P&S that shoots decent 720p.
Can't wait!
