Trip Journal/Log/Report/Diary:

We ran the river in late May 2002. The water was high and we did not portage any of the rapids, which were class I and easy class II. Good camping sites, mostly on sand beaches. The excellent class A site shown on the Carte-Guide about 3 km before the Desert River (the "Bear" site) is actually at the next river curve. After it, the cottages come close to the river and there are no suitable sites.

Special Comments:

The route passes through a Crown's land and no fee is required. Last 20 km the river goes through the Maniwaki Indian Reserve (right bank).

There is a gravel road that goes along the river, which is not shown on the older topomap.

The camping sites are numerous and are generally of good quality.

Alternative finishing point is about 7 km down the Desert River where the road comes close to the river.
