Route Description
Access to Put-In Information:

We put-in in Dresden, Ontario. A great launch area in the conservation area. There are multiple put-in possibilities. Just find a small town or bridge along the way.

Technical Guide:

It was a half-day trip upsrteam in order to scout the river, as there were no other trip descriptions on this website. In less than one hour we were able to identify the following species: 3 white tail deer, 3 mallards, several wood ducks, red-tailed hawk, sharp-shinned hawks, several blue jays and baltimore orioles, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, mourning doves, 3 great blue herons, warblers, robins, a northern flicker woodpecker and a belted kingfisher. And a beaver lodge (seriously) with an actual sighting of the animal a few weeks ago. This is an amazing and largely unknown ecosystem -- a world unto its own. The only issue with this river is the lack of campsites. As far as we know, there is only the Shetland Conservation Area. The banks are steep and lead to farmland. Unless you are brave and adventurous, this is ultimately a day-trip destination.
