How late can I get around the Bowron with worrying to much about a lot of weather and ice up on the shallower lakes. Solo, thinking about the circuit or maybe just the west side.

Hey Erich, just a guess, but I would say October should be ice free. Any ice then could be avoided or broken no problem.

Possibly could be a couple of weeks behind on the West side because of the warmer water.

On another note, we finally made it into Troitsa Lk. on the long weekend. TR to come.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the info. I never made it into Troitsa this year. I did paddle with Ali Howard who swam the Skeena this summer and I'm working on an article on her swim. Looking forward to hearing about the Troitsa.

Best, Erich

Eric, if you were to email Sandy at Bear River Mercantile, she would be able to let you know what times freeze up are as good as anyone. She is one of the few to live there year round. Her and her husband take care of the weather station there too. She was a wonderful resource for our winter ski trip there last year.
