I am thinking of putting in by train and taking out by train on the Thompson River

I have time to do the whole river however it is not my goal to do the whole thing for sake of it

Can anybody give me between 10 and 20 day itinerary keeping in mind that Kamloops Lake doesn't really thrill me?

When is the river undo-able due to low water

Where are the portage points (anything over a Class III)
and what are they like?

What is the river speed/flow like generally?

Thanks in advance

Hey Richard,

Try calling an outfitter in Blue River. Odds are that they will know or have an idea who might.

There's a nice stretch of river above the highway where the river turns west north of blue river, accessible from the logging roads, but from there to downstream to almost Clearwater is generally considered a kayak river. Most canoes start at Clearwater or little fort and it's nice to around Savona. I don't think that section of river is described in the canoe guides as it's not a common canoe route. You could probably make a really nice week from Clearwater to Savona.
