Post subject:  Powell Forest Canoe Route (who's been there?)

So I decided my next canoe tour will be on the Powell Forest Canoe Route near Powell River. Never been on it and the photos and video I've found of the route all lead me to believe the portage trails are pretty decent and wide enough for a canoe cart, am I correct in my assumption? Hope so. I just ordered a canoe cart from MEC and plan to bring my little, albeit heavy, marine cooler full of steaks, bacon and eggs (take that instant oatmeal!). Hoping I don't have to lug it by hand on a triple carry on a deadfall choked trail, that's never a fun surprise!

Anyway any advice anyone has for me would be appreciated. Anything special about this trip?

I'm going to cast off sometime around the 18th. Just trying to arrange transport from where I'll leave my car at the route's end and the put-in. So far it's looking like a bike lock and a taxi might have to be involved.

If anyone wants to come with me, let me know.

We've done it. It's an awesome trip.
Different as far as access, some has to be overlooked. (or embraced I guess)
I don't know about your canoe cart on this one. (Though one of the descriptions recommends the elusive one wheeled cart - whatever that is)
I sure wouldn't bring one. I think you're setting yourself up. Save it for Bowron or Murtle.

Counterclockwise will allow you to decend the killer portage down to Powell Lk. but the tradeoff is the headwinds travelling down Powell Lk.

Do all the loops and pack in to Inland as well. Why not?

I would go clockwise next time.

We had Owen and Daphne from Adventure B&B drop us of at Lois, take our car back to their place, and then picked us up a week later with our car when we phoned from the marina.
They did this with excellent service and a very fair price.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

Allright, good to know, thank you :)

Why not indeed, probably never do it again so might as well get it right the first time.

Ted: you sure called it on the canoe cart. Wish I had taken your advice.
