From last summer...
This year the plan is to do a clockwise lap around Morice Lake. Watching the forecast of steady strong SW winds means a potentially nasty lake.
Upon arrival we see that we're in for a workout. Semi bad at the launch site and guaranteed ugly down the lake.

Coming to a slight bend in the lake we head around the corner into the big wind. Another thing for us to deal with is the Nanika River outflow. With 2-3' waves coming off the lake and meeting the river's outflow the waves were 4-5' in front of the river. To go out in to the lake to go around meant being exposed too far from land with a wind that would push us out further if capsized.
We carefully made our way up the river a short distance and did a forward ferry to reach the other side. Once there we turned around and carefully made our way out exiting on the river left.
The river now behind us. The massive haystacks behind me.

Hiding in a small bay we set up camp.

Maybe we should re-think this next week. We do have a backup plan. We'll let today decide.

Ready for the day!

Squeezing in on a small beach for lunch. We also decide to abort this trip and go with plan B.

One last look down the lake.

Whipping up some supper after a killer day of paddling.

Plan B to come...
