Got the heads up on this trip right here on the forum from Canoeguitar - cheers for that Invited some good friends who came with their kayaks. We left home here in Campbell River and were on the water in about an hour. Spent one night, though could have spent one or two more. The weather was fabulous and the water warm so there was lots of swimming the playing about swamping the canoe and practice getting in from the water. A great weekend trip and one that we will for sure be repeating!

End of navigable water - we were at the end of our time too, but a little portage and some lining of the boats would have taken us to another little lake - next trip!

Brought back memories...my first solo trip...sleeping in the canoe in April watching the Hale-Bopp Comet streaking overhead...my first father-daughter trip with my 5 yr old - now 22.

The Main Lake Chain is a great little canoe getaway for those living on Vancouver Island or area. In a region so dominated by the ocean and the kayak, quiet canoeable lakes are sometimes hard to find.

BTW, right where you came to the end of navigable water...you can hike back in along the stream. There's an old cabin back there.
