Traveled many sections of Crow by boat but never that far by canoe, good luck sounds like a good idea. Been on Tongamong and Whetstone a few times 15 or so yrs ago by way of Sandy Lake Rd north of Havloc. There wasn't any public Launches I knew of. The camp/cottage rental on Tong would charge you a small fee to park and Launch, we fished in AL boats. From Tong to Whet was an easy carry when we went ( ie dry). Can't remember if it was runnable. white water really starts a fair ways down river from Whetstone as we traveled quite a bit by boat but I would get the maps to be sure.

My wife and I did a day trip on the Crowe recently. Here is the trip report:

Great trip report CD. Drove past the river today at a couple of points and now my curiosity is slaked. Thanks.

I canoed from Paudash Lake to Chandros Lake, June 2021, fathers day weekend, with my 76yr old father. This took us about 3 1/2 days. There are a ton of blow downs and major log jams. At each of the log jams that I encountered, access off the river was good and the vegetation was not thick so we were able to pull the canoe around fairly easy. We did take a battery operated reciprocating saw with us, which helped out a ton. This section was a tough slog, but the memory of how hard it was has faded, so I would probably do it again. I would probably do it a couple of weeks earlier in the year, say first week of June. A couple more inches of water would have made a world of difference.
I posted the trip to my you tube channel, check it out if you want too.

Thanks for clearing some of those logjams with the power tools! Maybe more people will do this route and keep it maintained. My wife and I did the middle section at the end of April last year as a day trip and the blowdowns certainly made this route a slog.

For those who are thinking of trying it this paddling season now that the route looks to be cleared somewhat, you can refer to my trip report of that trip. The link I posted earlier is no longer valid as I moved my blog. Here is the new link:

I do an annual run starting at Trowling Bay, down to Cordova. Definitely a good 2-3 day challenge. 4 major unmarked falls, that 100% need to be portaged around. Other than that, the rest can either be ran, lined or carried over… depending on water levels. We usually go in early June.
