I am intrested to know what people think of this material and the maple 17' canoe by everegreen

I have paddled a 17' maple on a few trips. The Maple is a great cruiser that handles well even when loaded down. It has good primary stability, and seems effortless to paddle.
The Evertek layup is a neat option. It gives you the durability and reasonably low cost of fibreglass, with the light weight and rigidity of Kevlar. The model that I have paddled was a full Kevlar layup, and about 8lbs lighter than the Evertek layup.
My friend had a nasty incident with his boat and required some repairs. Evergreen were great aboout looking after the boat and did a great repair job. This is handy if you are close to Missisuaga.
If you get the wood trim option, be sure to add an extra coat of oil. The factor job is pretty light.

I miss my Maple 17'. Sold it to a buddy 2 years ago to help him and his family out and have regretted it ever since.

Sorry to revive this ancient thread - did a google to try to find out what "Evertech" is and got bumped here :-)

There is an Evergreen Prospector 16 for sale on Ottawa Kijiji right now for $800

I think that the correct spelling is "Evertek." But that doesn't help a whole lot in knowing what it is or was when searching around on the internet.

I'm still paddling around in a 17' Evergreen Maple. (Always thought that was kind of an oxymoronic name.)

I'm pretty sure mine is Kevlar though, since it's about 52 lbs.

I've always been happy with this boat.

Yup 52 would certainly indicate it is kevlar

If I ever see another one I will buy it for sure!
