This image is from the Unlostify maps. The rapid you're talking about is highlighted towards the upper left.

Wotrock - here is a bit more background on a channel worth paddling down -

At the top of the 3.2 kilometer-long Old Voyageur channel are some swifts. A bit more than half-way down you come to the set of rapids named La Petite Faucille. These rapids were until recently mistakenly identified with the portage landing depicted in a Paul Kane painting mislabelled "French River Rapids".

In his book The French River: River of the Stick Wavers (published in 1996), Toni Harting writes of these rapids:

The existence of the Petite Faucille is mentioned a few times in the notes of the old travellers. The artifacts founds in the late 1960's on the river bottom below the drop are another indication that this route was used by the fur traders. In his 1845 painting, French River Rapids, Paul Kane gives a curious artist's impression of what presumably is the Petite Faucille. [109]

Curious because the location does not really look like the one that Kane painted!

In 2006 Ken Lister of the Royal Ontario Museum located the actual site some 830 kilometers to the west in northwestern Ontario between Lake Superior and Rainy River. See here for his account of the search and the discovery.

Below the Petite Faucille is a 100-meter stretch of fast water called La Dalle. Not long after you reach the West Cross Channel .
