Hey All,

My cousin and I were thinking of heading up to do some Rainbow fishing on the lower Steel river near the Highway. Does anyone know what the conditions would be like on the banks of the river this time of year? We were thinking of heading up around the 9th-12th and fishing from the banks, just wondering if the conditions are safe with ice, snow around the edges of the River. I understand that there are some risks of slips/falls in snow and ice but just generally can it be fished remotely safely. Not exactly a canoeing question but I'm hoping someone knows the area a little and could shed some light.

Still got three feet of snow in the bush up here, and over 2 feet of ice on the lakes. However the next two weeks are predicting fairly warm weather. -22 here yesterday morning though, so weather forecasts are pretty sketchy.
