Terry has fully retired, still alive as far as I know but not doing shuttles. Contact Brian Porter in Cochrane 705 272 8268 he has been doing the shuttles for the past 5 years, very reliable and an all round nice guy. He does winter maintenance on the Detour road so he can advise about ice out if you have an early Spring put-in. Which river are you planning? |

Thanks Recap, The Natogami River, its been on our to do list for quite some time and after reading your trip report we decided this was the year. Paddled the Partridge a couple of times and not having to paddle the Bay and up the Moose River is a real plus. I think we were behind you and Sam B by just a few days on the Wak about 10 years ago. |

We enjoyed the Nettogami so much we paddled it a second time this past May with friends from the US. I think it is one of the easier rivers to paddle in that there are less portages and they are all short. It is a great high water run! That Wak trip was a blast. Did you guys have to walk across the ice too on the headwater lake? Sam |

Hey Sam, The ice was out by the time we put-in. I agree the Wak is a blast in the early spring. We'll let you know how we make out on the Natogami. |

It's "recped" common error, not an issue (probably should keep my mouth shut!) What is your put-in date for Upper Kesagami Lake? I'm probably doing the Partridge (again) with a +/- May 17th shuttle date, hoping for a late meltdown as my previous trip had very low water. If the water levels are good (high) the swamp drag to the Net after Kesagami Lake is not too bad, takes a few hours and I did some "pruning" last year. I recommend taking snips or similar, much of what I cut probably regrew last summer. It would be a horrible portage if you can't push/pull through the trickles. I also did a fair bit of cutting on the "trails" around the big drops that come later on. If you haven't been down the Upper Kesagami River section for a few years a lot of the obstructions have washed away. |

Sorry about the error Recped, Put- in date is May 25 a little later then we wanted, we are a group of 6 solo paddlers and working around schedules and commitments is always a challenge. Hoping for high water and not too many bugs. The last time we were down the Upper Kesagami River was 2012, our last trip down the Partridge. We've paddled it twice in late May and had decent water levels. Keep us posted on your plans, if we get the opportunity to move up our date we may run into each other. Scott |
