Not really. Just a few notes and pix.

1 week trip July 12-19. 3 canoes
Arrived 1-2 PM. Wind warning with rain and t storms. Hunkered down at G Lake for the night.
paddled to Le Hays I. via a circuitous route for 2 nites. Fri AM was very overcast so just got a 1/2 day paddle into W. Desjardin. We have been so spoiled by the weather on prev trips. Not surprised given the way it has been so far this year.
meandered over to just W of Big Rock on Sat. A bit windy on open lake so we grunted our way around the N end of Campbell I. We looked for that passage a few years back at lower water levels but it was totally impractical. Found a campsite with the most flat rock tent pads that I have ever seen. No Western viewpoint, though.
Sun AM weather was iffy again. Did aft paddle into Solomon Bay. Tried to do a Waterhunter style pond-hopping up the creek. The topo showed beaver dams but a port would be needed to even get to the first one. This was the 1 and only time I saw---and felt--- a few deer flies. On prev trips to the bay there had been swarms. A couple of us had Lee Valley type of 'landing strips' just in case but didn't need them.
Did a Mon day paddle c/w leisurely lunch/swim stop E thru Garbage Bay to Deer I. It looks like some old cabin was torn down and the garbage left behind. Quite a rag-tag collection of cabins/cottages in that area. One guy has a floating 'houseboat like' cabin that he presumably tows there in the spring. He was the only person we saw.
Did a Tue day paddle to a great site on Claws I. Had to hang on to the tents to get them pitched though. Bugs were not a problem here. A mere 1 hr paddle to Chic Creek on Wed---a bit too short, perhaps.

Pix--if the link works.

Looks like a fun trip, love the smooth rocks and narrow channels in between. Too bad the bugs were scarce... I know how much you love those deerflies!
:D

Those pictures make me want to go...

Yes, there is big open water but there are lots of islands to tuck in behind. Have a good look at the topos and Google E. I have felt more vulnerable on the big lakes in Temagami.

It sounds wonderful. Perfect photos.
Where was this trip? I don't see a location identified, though clearly many people seem to know.
Thank you,
Erica

OK. I get it now. Phillip Edward Island. Please forgive this south of the border ignorance. Erica
