110km paddling race in Huntsville, Ontario. Lots of categories for canoes, kayaks & SUPs.
The race starts with a headwind and waves that will die for most of the race. We barely saw the sun, but I had a lot of paddling in the dark (about 8 hours).
An excellent way to test your own abilities, in a safe environment. We were never too far away from help in case we needed it.
A lot of planning and training is involved in these types of races. Nutrition and hydration (electrolytes) play a very important role too. And you need to be patient. After all, it took me more than 19 hours to finish the race.
