I''m looking for directions for how to access the Brazeau River from Small Boys Camp or somewhere in that area. I know of the Cardinal River access, but I'd like to try to put in a little further upstream. I've driven through Small Boys Camp but did not see anything that looked like a trail to the river (there was no-one out and about in the camp at the time, or I would have asked a local). Can someone give me directions, please.

Thanks

I've not paddled the Upper Brazeau for 4-5 years now and can't really remember what it looked like where we parked etc.....but we did use ropes to lower our canoes down a very steep, grassy, tree covered hill (cliff more like it) and there was always room to prep boats for trip on the lower bank at the right water level. Didn't use any trails etc. I'll call a few paddling buddies and see if I can get a better description for you.

A bit more info' for you.
Best to get directions from Smallboy's as you will need permission to access river. Toward river is a hill (approx. 1 km) then a meadow that is usually to wet for vehicles and the last bit to the river (down hill) is approx' 100 m down.
Sooo it's a bit of a hike to the river. But worth it!
Hope it helps

Thanks, Laura. I'll knock on some doors at the camp.
