Anyone done any canoeing/kayaking on Honeymoon Lake and/or Waterfowl Lake What are the campgrounds like? Are there campsites close to the water?

I stayed at Waterfowl for a couple of nights and brought a canoe with me. It's not a big lake at all, but we still enjoyed canoeing around a bit. Real nice scenery.

there is a river coming in that comes from a nearby lake(possibly Honeymoon) that I wanted to drive to, and put in, then return to waterfowl via the river, but we didn't end up doing that, maybe this year

From the BNP page:

"Waterfowl Lakes Campground
57 km north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway.

Open from June 19 to September 7, 2009
The bubbling Mistaya River enters Waterfowl Lake. Hiking trail to Cirque and Chephren Lakes.
116 unserviced sites with flush toilets, piped water, kitchen shelters with wood cook stoves, fire rings and firewood, food storage, recycling bins, sanitation station."

A friend claims this is the best campground in the Rockies (perhaps partly because of his childhood memories there). There are apparently waterfront campsites, but no reservations available so far as I know.

We may check it out in July.
