Wildlife viewing, as you probably know, is kind of hit-and-miss. Athabasca R from Ft MacKay (Shell Landing) to Chip is good, wilderness but not utterly uninhabited, historic, and all flat water. It can take anywhere from 4 or 5 days to over a week, depending how long you paddle and how well the weather cooperates. For a longer trip, you can start at McMurray.

Peace R through Wood Buffalo to Chip might fit the bill even better.

There are at least two good carriers to fly you out of Chip and back to your starting point: Air Mikisew and McMurray Aviation.

PLEASE pick a forum that suites your question and stick to it

You don't have to post it in every forum on the board.

Just a little advice from an old timer :o

See what I mean!

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Lakeland prov. park. Beautiful trip abundant wild life lots of birds, owls eagles with 2 eaglets just about to leave the nest (had to leave before they flew , next couple of days I presume). lots of deer , The one night it got to the point where we had to chase 3 out of our camp site. Well worth the 3km portage into Jackson lake (carts provided) and even better it's free.
