ARCA has a great canoe map on this...It can be found at MEC.

"A Paddler's guidl to the iddle Red deer river Dickson to Drumheller" $6.00.
It has a few put in/take outs with rapids and the like marked.

good luck

Thanks Myrl.
Did exactly as you said and paddled this section last Friday.
The map is OK but with higher than normal water levels the water is running faster. Riffles are common throughout the trip and not just a shown on the map. Some deadheads exist at present.
It took about 3.5 hours at liesurely rate.
Howard.

What is the scenery like? ex. badlands, or gravel and cottonwoods, etc..

Bit of everything really, so its nicely varied.
Bird life abounds but no other animals except a few cattle!
I could easily have paddle on further but had a pre arranged take out at the Highway 54 bridge.
I think the Little Red Deer River down to the Red Deer River looks a good paddle for someone with more skills than me! It may not be fast but looks as if it turns quite sharply at times so manuvearing(sp) skills are needed more.
Howard.
