Osprey Wings has always seemed to be busy whenever I've been in that area. It's a very important service for paddlers and for local people so, yes, hopefully, someone decides it's a worthwhile investment. |

While I’ve never flown with Osprey Wings, I have started many a canoe trip in a float plane. Thanks for posting this story. |

A story from the CBC - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoo ... -1.6664940 With all the camps, private cabins, exploration companies and canoeists in the area depending on air access, it's hard to think that no other operator would step in. Whether they would have as large or diverse a fleet as Osprey Wings, or an operating base at Points North, are other questions. Fingers crossed. -jmc |

Well, it's been a few months now since the announcement of Osprey's closure; has anyone heard any scuttlebutt regarding another entity taking over that service? Who is left that can provide floatplane service in that area? Thanks all, cheers. |

Haven’t heard of any action yet, its a big investment and it doesn’t sound like they want to part it out. Transwest Air operates a float base out of LaRonge, which adds about 60km to any flights going north that would have originated out of Missinipe, let’s lowball it and say 10$ per km for a Beaver…. Sucks. Osprey operated some smaller bases out of a few other locations as well, Points North and this past summer had a Beaver in Pelican Narrows, so accessing and egressing these areas is gonna be a lot more difficult/expensive too. Was planning to take the kids to the Fond du Lac this summer with a flight back to Points from Black Lake, probably not happening now. Pretty sure I’ve seen a Beaver, Turbo and Twin Otters parked at the LaRonge base so they should have the options covered. They might need to get a bigger parking lot for this summer. |
